While originally planning on returning to Sacramento on April 13th, the California Legislature announced last week that it will remain on recess until May 4th. Assuming that date holds true, the Legislature will immediately get to work on the State Budget upon their return. The Governor’s May Revision of the budget is due mid-May, and it is expected to have minimal new priorities, and instead focus on COVID-19, wildfires, and homelessness. It is believed that this budget can be completed by the June 15th constitutional deadline. Other program revisions, including any changes to the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF) may be heard later in an August Revision.
